CWGirl Miss Santa Monica Teen USA Hailee Harris

Friday, October 4, 2013

The moment you sit down with Hailee you quickly realize you are not speaking with your average 16 year old! So here you go take notes Parents and Teens this is one awesome girl! She represents her Title with Honor, Grace and Pride! She holds her Sash DEARLY and looks upon it with GREAT Accomplishment and Hard Work! Hailee is from a family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters with loving parents who are her proudest supporters! She and her siblings believe in supporting each others achievements and take part by attending each others sports and activities. So you can imagine how busy her family must be!

We started off with a series of Questions with the first "Why Pageants" Here is Hailee's response.
"I do pageants because it's opened alot of doors for me and ever since I was little I always wanted to model. However I do realize that I am not a Size 0 and 6 Feet Tall!  Pageants are a opportunity to express yourself in your own way. I have learned strong speaking and interview skills and I don't know a job that you can go into without having good interview skills. I started at 11 years old and now 16  and now have countless interview skills to get jobs as well as life skills!  As a Teenager it is important to feel comfortable in your own skin. It is alot easier to accept people for who they are when you know who you are. In Pageants everyone is different, but everyone is beautifully different!"

Growing up Hailee felt awkward about herself. As a young pre-teen she was in fact bullied at school. kids teased her about her height, gap in her teeth and short curly hair. She towered over her friends and classmates and did not feel she fit in. Hard to imagine that this beautiful beauty was subject to teasing and bullying. She strongly believes that  BULLYING and TEASING should not be tolerated and that educating as early as possible is the best way to help stop bullying. Hailee was not taught or equipped with the tools she needed at the time and dealt with her tormentors by keeping it to herself. She just worked it out from within and did not want to bring attention to herself by complaining. It was in this awkward stage in life at age 11 she was asked by a friend, who did not want to enter a pageant by herself that Hailee enter the Pageant with her "The Miss Pre-Teen Norco Pageant". A huge surprise to Hailee she ended up winning her very first Pageant and figured out from that moment on she realized it was okay to be different and felt comfortable with who she was a tall girl with alot of pride and could not wait to do her next pageant. Pageants allow Hailee to express herself on stage and she also says that "People get to know me and for who I really am".

We also spoke in depth about Hailee's thoughts on being a Teenager today and some advise from a Girl who is using the opportunity of representing her Title to educate other Teens with some good solid advise. Parents Take Note here is some Hailee Advise!

"PARENTS should try to be PARENTS more than friends"
"If it's not LEGAL then you shouldn't be doing it!"
"The Wrong thing will never be the Right Thing"
"Follow your Gut Feeling because 99% of the time you are Right"
"It's COOL to be SOBER start your OWN Trend"

Hailee has done close 12 pageants to date. She competed in her First Swimsuit Pageant at age 13 and she noted how at 5'11 it was very difficult to find a one piece bathing suit to compete in. She did find that swimsuit and won of course!
Hailee currently holds 2 Titles! Miss Santa Monica Teen USA, Miss Corona Del Mar Teen USA and has just retired her title as Miss Route 66. This coming January Hailee will be competing for the prestigious title of 2014 Miss California Teen USA representing the city of Santa Monica as Miss Santa Monica Teen USA!
As Miss Santa Monica Teen USA she had the opportunity to take part in the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation for Juvenile Diabetes meeting Sugar Ray Leanard, Barry Bonds and even Usher.  She mentioned that at the Fundraiser she was sitting above celebrities taking pictures with her mom Shannon together having a little photobombing fun while enjoying a very special event to help children.
Hailee will be entering her Junior year and has decided that HomeSchooling will be best for her this coming year due to her busy Travel and Event Scheduling. Hailee loves her Karate Studio which helps her to stay fit and practice her Self Defense skills, something every girl should know.
CWGirl is very proud of you Hailee and will be sharing "Inside the Life of Hailee a California Beauty" YouTube Video posting soon! Hailee plans to attend college and study criminal investigations, and one day hopes to work as a Police Officer and pursuing a future career as a Detective serving her community. Don't be surprised if you see her face in the future in film, magazines, television or talk show! Hailee has many aspirations and is a natural in front of the camera! Hailee has great speaking and Interview skills of her own.
Ok here are some of Hailee's FAVORITES!

CWGirl with Jeannie Ward "More than Just Linens"

Thursday, July 18, 2013

Designer Specialty Linens I started my journey to their Orange County Showroom room in Irvine not knowing really how I was going to Break the Ice. I knew what I wanted to talk about and who I wanted to talk to in depth in a subject that touches me dearly. I also of course being in the Wedding Event Industry was looking for information to help and support other Wedding Professionals as well. From the moment I walked in the doors Veronica Taylor very Pregnant and Glowing CWGirl greeted me with big hugs and glowing baby happiness! I met Veronica when she had a little showroom in the Downtown Orange area next to Jen K Floral Design. So seeing her again and seeing how much she has grown again...this is baby number 2 and YES It's a Girl! Just moments after walks in Jeannie Ward carrying in a Stunning Silver Sparkly Linen and for those who know this CWGirl I was in LOVE! Jeannie and I never officially met until this moment but you would have thought we were long time friends. When you are part of the California Working Girl network that is how you feel when you finally meet!
First let me tell you a bit more about Jeannie Ward! Jeannie Ward is a loving mother of 2, ages 22 and 23 in college and is so proud of her children.  She has a beautiful marriage of 23 years. Her philosophy on raising a healthy family is Consistency and Family Dinners! She has done such a great job instilling this into her homelife that when at work her daughter will prepare dinner and have the table set to enjoy this most treasured time.
Jeannie's background will amaze you and your professional respect for her will astound you! So here is some Jeannie "Dish" Jeannie started her career in the Wedding Event Industry in the late 90's as a Floral Designer working out of her home with a full size walk-in cooler on her property. She specialized in Weddings and would make sure that at each and every wedding or event she would and I say this in her own words "Make friends and build Relationships with her Vendors" upon arriving to be sure that everyone had everything they needed from her end to ensure a successful Wedding. Her Clients loved her attention to details as well as the hotels and venues that she came to know and before long her clients, friends, and wedding professionals, venues were reaching out to Jeannie for advice in planning their next event. The "Wedding Jeannie" was Born! Jeannie's first official wedding was in 2000 in the city of Temecula, by a client that insisted she plan her wedding since she had already suggested all her vendors that she loved and booked. Now fast forward hundreds of Weddings and Events later with numerous publications of her work, this self taught marketing genius who could manage her own websites, blogs, and social media campaigning meets CEO and Owner, Dahlia of Designer Specialty Linens. Jeannie a long time client at the time loved ordering linens from DSL for years. One of Jeannie's best kept secrets in the Linen World!
She loved the business relationship and respect for the owner and company. After many years in the industry as a Wedding Planner she could not have guessed but her relationship with Dahlia
and her Company were about to change. Take the Super Creative Talented Designer of Specialty Linens (thus the name) who was juggling all sides of her business and Jeannie Ward with her amazing marketing skills who had a clear vision of  where Designer Specialty Linens could be in the marketplace having a far superior product at competitive pricing! Jeannie could clearly see the opportunity of tremendous  growth beyond expectations with hard work in place! Then something magical was born! So with the wave of Jeannie's Magical Wand it happened! Jeannie accepted the move to her new career and has loved every minute. Working along side Veronica Taylor and the Fabulous DSL TEAM Jeannie was honored and a Support System to the LA and Orange County Showroom. I asked Jeannie how difficult it was to begin her career change and she was like, it was easy! Jeannie was not looking for the opportunity came to her and she was excited!
To the Wedding Industry however it was a real shocker of course, but to her close friends the support was huge. It takes guts and courage to make a career change in today's market and I truly believe that Jeannie's was inspired by pure fate or as Jeannie says"A Perfect Wedding".
Jeannie also shared her views and opinions about today's wedding industry verses yesterdays and there was a lot to be said. Will leave this subject to another days topic that I will be touching on within the next couple weeks titled "The DIY Bride" How Much did that Wedding Really Cost?" with Interviews by the Industry's Top professionals and some New Comers!
Jeannie's best advise to Brides coming to shop at Designer Specialty Linens is to let them know that they have something for every budget in mind. She also made a point to mention that the Sweetheart Table, Sign-In Table and your Cake Table will be the Three Top most photographed moments at your wedding reception, so including a Beautiful Accent Linen can totally be fitted in any budget. Brides who are planning their own wedding and wedding planners who may or may not know, this is a great way to showcase a Wedding on a Budget! There are also many other creative options as Jeannie mentioned such as incorporating Linens from Venue with a Beautiful overlay or a Beautiful Satin Lamour Napkin perhaps. So many creative options to have fun with! So girls the Trip is worth the VISIT (: There is no pressure and you are always welcome to ask away! The staff is experienced and caring and with the Wedding Jeannie and her Team there to help you! It's a Win Win! Take the time when planning your wedding or event to visit prospective Vendors. You may find out that you may be able to WOW your guest after all!

CANDY BAR QUEEN CWGirl Sandee Creager

Thursday, July 11, 2013

Want a Cool Rockin Candy Bar for your Next Party like this one!!!  There is one smart Candee Girl!
Well if you live in Southern California especially in the OC area you may have heard about
Candee by Sandee! I wanted to highlight her and her achievements and her oh so sweet job!
I met Sandee and her Husband Paul at a Networking Event over 5 years ago. Had the pleasure to work with her on a Special Event in the Past with my friends at Elite Productions International. Sandee entertained 2000 plus Guest with her amazing Sweet Station. She pulled this off in the 11th hour if you know what I mean! If I recall a 2 Day Notice! I was like she is good!
We can will call this photo Throwback Photo! Orange you glad I shared it!

Sandee does not throw a Candy Bar together in fact you might be surprised of the hours and time that goes into her Custom Candy Bars! Hours of research on her part traveling and visiting Candy Companies from all over for over the many years has made her a expert in Candy Extraordinaire! Tasting of course comes with the Job of being a Candee Fairy! So when it comes to Candy you might be in for a Big Surprise! What candy works well with other candy!
What people really don't even touch at Candy Bars = Dollars Wasted!
So many Pinterest Photos of Candy Stations I thought you might want to know or maybe you do know HOW MUCH THAT CANDY BAR REALLY COST?
You may soon find out that Hiring a Pro would have been much better decision saving you $$$
and leaving all the stress behind!
From my PROFESSIONAL view of over 25 plus years this is what I have to say is some of the most common expenses that come into play.
Buying New Glassware! Did you check to see if it was possibly a Breakable Piece? Glass Thickness, Brand, Supplier pros know exactly what to look for! We can spot a crack before a crack! Just Sayn (: This is one issue when buying glassware from some of our favorite stores ...HomeGoods TJMax etc. Deal Shopping can become a catastrophe if you do not consider all those details. Sandee considers all product in contact with her customer for example.
Here is another! HOW OLD IS THAT GREAT DEAL ON BULK CANDY YOU PURCHASED? http://consumerist.com/2008/04/09/avoid-eating-stale-candy-by-learning-the-secret-candy-codes/ Article worth Reading! Oh and there is more!
Do you like to eat last years Halloween Candy sitting up in the Cabinet? Well neither do your Guest!
Nothing like nasty old candy from Brand New Bags (so you thought) going into your guest cute little DIY custom bags that you spent $$ I could keep going but just wanted to make a point on why we hire professional candy bar companies. Working for larger companies it is a no brainer they would never allow their name to have anything less represent them they too will most likely contract out to reliable trusting supplier! Professionals work with Professionals (:
Ok I know not everyone can afford to Hire so here are some Tips! Think about the things I said above! Don't buy old candy! Check your Glassware for Cracks! Don't put candy as nice as it looks in Containers that Guest can never reach just for the Look because you saw it on Pinterest! Check around your home you may be surprised what you will find! Yes and go ahead and Pin Away just know what you are planning to spend. Set a Budget! Yea hate that word too but you know! Goodluck with your next Party and hope that you found something SWEET besides Candy!
Here is a photo of Sandee's Sweet FANS Sandee has been Blessed to share her Sweet Biz with!

TIPS TO HEALTHY HYDRATED SKIN FOR SUMMER

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Just recently California Working Girl asked one of our New CWGirl's Natasha Dzura-Jones a question regarding Skin Care especially since we live here in Sunny California and Summer is just around the Corner. Natasha is a Skin Care Specialist owner of www.studio-skincare.com She has worked with Many Celebrity's and Clients of all ages and is now in her own Studio in Huntington Beach, California. So I asked Natasha what she would suggest in regards to what healthy drinks besides H2O that would be good to keep your skin Hydrated? So I copied her Post to share with you! One product she mentioned is ZICO! I personally LOVE ZICO it is truly refreshing and low in Calories! Trader Joe's has a great price on ZICO! Thankyou Natasha for Sharing! Love the Pedialite Ice Cubes!!! Will make them for my Doggy FUR SURE!

  • Natasha Dzura-Jones Coconut Water...ZICO has a great Chocolate one available at trader Joe's......it is not thick like Chocolate Milf or Yoohoo....great to Hydrate and curb the chocolate fix.......another brand o.n.e I think their gauva coconut water is great. Last tip Pedialite Yuck but make ice trays and add it to your water....or find the Gerber version apple one is drinkable.......the pedialite cubes are great for sick kids or hot dogs......actual dogs that are too hot. LOL

You are CEO how much do you really KNOW?

Sunday, February 10, 2013

So how much do you really know about the business you slave yourself to for success? Do you really know all the inside and outside of your company? You are CEO "The Chief Executive Officer", "The Head Honcho", "The Grand Poo Pah". You pay your taxes on time, you pay your employee's, you say you pay yourself, but how much do your really PAY YOURSELF?
Are you making a real paycheck or are you telling yourself you are? Sadly there are many of us in debt up to our ears "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" spending countless hours away from your family. If you are a working mom/business owner you are most likely feeling guilty due to missing important milestones in your little ones life because YOU strongly believe that if you did things any differently you will not succeed and what else could you be doing with your time. You have been in your current business forever or though it may seem and have invested almost everything you own. The job market is tough and you are stuck in this whirlpool and your Time Out might be a Glass of Wine...well hell actually maybe just the whole bottle at the end of the day! Okay, so what is the solution to this madness that so many women of all ages go through? Do we just become Creatures by Nature and just do it, get it done, end of story or do we reach out and find a SOLUTION! I vote SOLUTION! Spending countless hours myself trying to REINVENT myself I personally know how crazy this cycle can be! I had many small businesses of my own. I have been audited that sucks! I eventually found that working for others was less a headache and more rewarding to those I worked for. Now I am combining both worlds and hoping that I can have it all! Not long ago I became highly allergic to flowers particularly roses and hydrangea, this is horrible when the Floral Industry is your additional family income! This happened to me and I am so grateful that I could creatively learn how to work around my allergy issue. Was not easy though but when you love what you do and I quote "YOU FIND A WAY!"
I am inviting you to be part of my personal journey and hope that by sharing my way to success that together with positive advice and support we can all become a bit more successful and motivated! I am venturing into the world of Social Media which is ever so constantly changing and will read and share anything I find that can be helpful to you. If you have advise and helpful information to share post on our Facebook page California Working Girl and Share here as well! Let's all be a Bit more Successful in our Personal and Business lives! To those of you who know me one thing you know is I LOVE Facebook and Social Media! Now it is time to start filling in the gaps and spaces and bring all this together. I started following Kim Garst with Boom Social Media LOVE HER! Found out she is a  HOCKEY MOM like me go figure! She lives in Tampa, Florida my home town go figure (coincidence or fate)! It is a Small World full of Social Media How to Succeed meet friends, make friends using Posting Selling on Pinterest, Facebook getting LIKES, Instagram, Blogs, Websites, Tumbler, Twitter, Google Plus, and not to forget Constant Contact and a old fashion e-mail or E-vite reminder and then be sure to get LinkedIN and if you are not Social Media Able be sure to order your Vista Print Cards and Network like Crazy! Wednesday, December 12, 2012

Now most of you probably know by now that I am a Hockey Mom who loves Facebook/Pinterest and Blogging! So I thought I would take my DIY a little Christmas Fun! So In the Spirit of Hockey I put together this Custom DIY Hockey Stick Tree which was not very hard to do. We have a Garage FULL of hockey sticks! I included some sentimental ornaments that we hang every year, TWINKLE LIGHTS and pucks for the Tree Skirt (: My husband insist on getting the pucks back and I find another Tree Skirt,  as well as one of the Hockey Sticks that belong to my daughter Tara. The kids actually really love it so our Tree is a Hit! I am pretty sure this will be our New Family ritual from now on starting on the 12 Days of Christmas.
